Mavis
Beacon was okay for it's time. After all, aspiring typists needed a soothing voice,
reasonable lessons and a measured pace to learn the ways of QWERTY. Those days are gone in
this new millenium. As the world turns and civilization moves on, Bemani teaches typing in
Japan with rhythmic pace and Sega does it with Zombie threat.
The premise is simple enough, forego the gun and take up the keyboard to
wreck zombies who approach with harmful intent. Each undead who shuffles towards you is
accompanied with a text box in English and Japanese. Fast fingers must type the word in
the text box to blast the zombie. Do 60 wpm and you're the man (or woman) and all will
fall before you. Do 10 wpm and you're worm food. Good fun that also teaches typing. In
stock US$95. Includes game and a Skeleton keyboard. |

Millenium Collection Derailed |
Collectors |
Due to what
appears to be poor sales for Square's Millenium Collection of games, the next batch of MC
offerings have been delayed indefinitely. Perhaps it was unwise to re-release recent games
such as Saga Frontier 2, Legend of Mana and Front Mission 3, while original copies still
sat dormant in Japanese shops at discounted prices. The next four games in the Millenium
Collection are Xenogears Ellie, Xenogears Fei, Chrono Cross, and Parasite Eve 2. NCS will
update the new release dates when they are announced.
As a sidenote, Tobal No. 2 is needed in a Millenium Collection re-release and
Square could include the first Tobal to sweeten the pot. Throw in a keychain or two and
stamp the Millenium label on it for some revenue.
Chronotrigger is another obvious target, which sells out time and time again whenever we
restock. |
There is a healthy collector's market in
video game land. Some obvious selling points of any game or collection is exclusivity and
rarity. None of this applies to the Square Millenium Collection at this time but perhaps
things will change 5 or 10 years from now when the complete MC line is sought by
Squaresoft devotees and fans. It could happen... |

October Update |
| In addition
to SNK's announcement of Last Blade 2 Final Edition for the Dreamcast to
ship on December 21, Capcom confirmed three DC releases overnight. Gun Spike lights
up on December 21, Moero! Justice School arrives on December 07, and Eldorado
Gate Vol. 2 ships on December 12. Gun Spike appears to be most wanted based on
unsolicited pre-orders received by NCS thus far. Additional ship dates from other
publishers will be posted when they are confirmed. Much can change from now to
then... |
Napple Tale was originally
scheduled for last week but has now been delayed to October 19. Also arriving on the same
day are: Net Golf, the first network golf sim and Sega Marine
Fishing, the followup to Bass Fishing. . |

| The
November 17, 2000 issue of import Dreamcast Magazine will include a playable preview of
Guilty Gear X and four other previews of upcoming DC software. NCS expects the magazine to
arrive at the end of October and pre-orders are welcome. Pricing for this issue is set at
US$20 and the magazine has been added to the on-line store for new pre-orders. |
Due to a change in our purchasing
arrangements in the past couple of weeks, NCS will take delivery of three volumes of
Dreamcast Magazine tomorrow. Apologies. |

| It's on.
SNK of Japan has served up the ship date for Neo Geo King of Fighters 2000 and
it hits on December 21, 2000. All pre-orders that have previously been submitted to NCS
are on hold and we'll send out e-mail confirmations for this game about two weeks before
the game arrives. This early December mailing will serve as a reminder to our customers
and also settle shipping arrangements. New pre-orders are welcome via e-mail request for
addition to our reservation schedule. Final pricing for the game will be posted on October
17 and we will be able to fulfill all pre-orders received up until the game ships. New
orders after the release date should also be okay as we will bring in a large quantity of
this product. |
SNK's retail pricing for King of Fighters 2000 sits at a hefty 38,000 yen or
roughly USD347 at this morning's forex ratio. NCS expects our own pricing to be listed at
USD319 or lower when the cartridge is released in December but this will be finalized in
about 2 weeks. There will only be one production of this game. |
