As is often the case with interstellar travel, mishaps happen and destiny forces your space hopping ship to crash land on an alien planet. After shaking the cobwebs from your dizzied noggin, you figure it might be a good idea to find a way back home. As you traipse the new world, local inhabitants mutter and try to communicate with you in icon form but since they're speaking Greek, little headway arises. Your task is to learn the various pictographs and compose them into proper "sentences" in order to speak with the alien life forms. Knowing how to read and discern the simple pictographs also goes a long way into helping you gather clues and secure help from newfound allies.
Chalk up another niche release to SCEI. Primitive Language will sell minute quantities in Japan but it's a charming and intuitive game which builds an adventure around the concept of language. Simple game-play and a forgiving learning curve make this an enjoyable experience for those who dare dabble in niche interaction.

PS2 Silent Scope 2 ~ Innocent Sweeper

US$53

As a member of a highly skilled task force, terrorists have once again forced your hand into a sniper shooting rampage in order to halt the madness. A poison gas missile has been appropriated by agents of destruction who wish to launch it on innocent folks. That won't do. Grab your vest, slap on the cool shades, and take up the high powered rifle once again to make sure enduring freedom lives on...
Silent snipers accustomed and attuned to the original game won't find much in the way of changes here. Visual candy does the job to relay scenes of terror as you take action on bridges, an opera house, and forested areas, among others. Enemy targets seem to move faster, making kill shots (beads in the head) much more difficult to pull off. You'll have to snipe an arm, a leg, or a chunk of abdomen in order to stop them. To add to the replay value of the game, four game modes are available for choosing includiing Story Mode, Shooting Range, Duel, and Original Mode. Story forks also add somewhat to the replay worth.

GBA Let's Puyo Puyo

US$39

Puyos are jelly. Make that jelly with eyes. For some reason, they fall from the sky in constant progression and our heroine Arle must arrange the Puyos in contiguous color-coordinated combos in order to fade them from the screen. Simple enough, but magic may be made when Arle is skilled enough to set up multiple combos. When playing a two-player game, crafting a seven hinge combo where Puyos die en masse and you'll wreck any opponent who dares challenge your reign. Recommended.
This and that...
