| If and only
if, you really adore all things Virtua Fighter, should you pick up this official Japanese
Video-CD licensed by Sega. Containing movies and a booming voice to announce the various
champions from Sega's flagship fighting game, this CD examines the characters, the moves,
and the technique of Virtua Fighters. Narration is in Japanese but the roll call of each
name is in English. Interesting but we would only recommend this to collectors and VF
curio seekers. US$20. |

Series, New York |
Wager |
| Sure,
there's excitement in the Big Apple in this year's World Series. Bragging rights are at
stake here and another match-up between the two New York baseball teams might not happen
for another half century. It's big and the New York media is beating it to death even
before it starts. All of the dailies have big spreads, radio and television are in
overkill mode, and those already jaded can't avoid it. There was an article on MSN this
morning entitled "Mets simply better than Yankees" and subtitled "It's not
about tradition or destiny, it's about who's best". The writer went on to describe
the strengths and weakness of each team in vivid detail, with the Mets leading in prowess.
What the writer fails to recognize is that baseball as much about luck as it is about
stats. Hint: Yankees will win. Las Vegas bookmakers will lay down the line tonight at even
tilt but we figure the odds will square off by game two. |
The Daily News, a local newspaper, is predicting the Mets will win the
Series. With conventional "wisdom" favoring the Mets, the contrarian move would
be to wager on the side of the Yankees. I.e, bet against the stock market bears when the
end of the world seems in bloom and bet against the media when they start spouting sports
victories... Simple.
