Geo Freak October | US$12 |
Cover |
The belated
issue of NGF October 2000 examines King of Fighters 2000 with a 40 page primer on the game
and all of it's combatants. A preliminary moves list is included for each character to get
you started. Now that Gamest is gone, it's up to each magazine to offer it's own version
of mook-like coverage. The second major game to get the mook-like treatment in this issue
is Capcom vs SNK for the Dreamcast.
A sparse NGP section checks out the upcoming Big Bang Pro Wrestling, Infinity
Cure, and Rockman. Available issues of this magazine are small and orders may be submitted
by e-mail request. |

| A final
restock shipment of Vampire Chronicle arrived today. Any remaining pre-orders for this
game will ship to customers this afternoon. We will also be able to accept new orders
through our on-line store and supplies should last
for the next month or two. NCS will be unable to restock this game after this shipment due
to D-Direct arrangements in Japan. However, the supply that we have on hand should sate
all domestic demand. Price: US$53. |

Beatmania makes the migration from Playstation to PS2 and the rest of the
Bemani crew should join the evolution soon. The BM 2 DX controller is compatible with PS2
and PS1.
Dance Summit 2001 is better known as the latest Bust a Move rhythm game where
onscreen dancers move to your ability to match the cues. Tap in time and everything will
run smoothly, like an oiled machine. A groovy soundtrack rounds out the fun.
NCS does not have any plans to import the regular edition of Guitarman.

Demand |
There has
been a huge volume of e-mail from customers and readers inquiring about the USA
Playstation 2. To help alleviate the flow, we have prepared a mini FAQ with the most
common questions asked.
Do you have PS2 USA consoles in stock?
Unfortunately no. There has been a shortage since day one.
When will you have PS2 USA consoles available in quantity?
A conservative estimate would be early next year. Small supplies are
expected within the next couple of weeks but prices are likely to be in the US$450 range.
Are you accepting pre-orders for the PS2 USA console?
Not at this time and not until we have a better idea of supplies shipped to
market.
Is it true that the PS2 cost to you was ~US$450 per unit?
Yes, we paid US$1450 for PS2 sets that included 20 games. If we sold
each of the 20 games for US$49, our final cost for the unit was US$470. This package
arrangement does not look like it will change anytime soon.
Any consolation for those of us that missed out?
Hm. Better luck next time? Things should level out by March of
2001 and supplies should be plentiful by then. Of course, this does nothing to alleviate
the situation now when Christmas is rushing up and demand is expected to ramp up even
more. Good luck. |
In recent years, winter holidays have been marked by mania for one or more
defining toys. One year it was Cabbage Patch Dolls or Tamagotchi
and in others we had to contend with Furby and Tickle Me Elmo
mania. If memory serves correctly, some Elmo dolls went for thousands of dollars. Normal
retail was approximately $12. Some of the tales of Elmo or Furby mania were pretty bad and
lacking of common sense. The theme seemed to be that parents had to get what the child
demanded and pay any price for it. After all, the holidays only happen once a year.
The first year that Nintendo shipped N64 in the USA, the holidays also made
it a star. So we come full circle in 2000 and we have another mania in our scopes. Only
this time, big kids and little kids alike clamor for a piece of the action. |
