pre-orders were opened overnight for the long awaited Playstation 2 version of Gran
Turismo 3. The ship date is tentatively set for the last Thursday of January
2001. Pricing is Y6800 or US$68 and NCS is now accepting pre-orders by e-mail request or on-line.
Since Y2K will have passed by the time the game ships, the name morphs from GT 2000 to
GT3. |
GT3 supports up to six PS2s linked together for a racing royale among your
fiercest friends and foes. The I-Link cable provides the multi-player magic to network it
all. |

Playstation 2 Memory Solution |
Load |
| Third party
manufacturers haven't been able to crack Magic Gate yet and thus offer their own PS2
memory cards but EMS has come up with a round-about solution for the time being. The PS2
Memory Adaptor allows users to save their PS2 data backup to standard flash
memory cards in 8M, 16M, and 32M capacities. EMS will supply both the adaptor piece and
the flash memory within the next 2 weeks. NCS expects to take delivery at that time and
offer the product to customers. The memory adaptor will be priced at US$10 and the flash
cards are priced at US$25 for the 8M card, US$35 for the 16M version, and US$50 for the
32M big 'un. |
Third party vendors such as EMS blaze a trail by offering large capacity
memory card solutions. OEMs such as Sony and Sega are reluctant to follow this lead since
smaller capacity memory cards mean more memory card sales through the various distribution
channels. |

Joystick |
| NCS has posted up a gallery of upcoming Hori
controller reproductions and new products. The Dual Shock joystick will only be produced
for pre-orders from vendors and no buffer quantities are planned. Pre-orders are welcome
via e-mail request but all of the listed items will be
added on-line once they are available. The PS One Pocket controller is currently in stock.

Manufacturers are usually loathe to produce joysticks. They sell miniscule
quantities when compared to joypads and the profit margins are comparable to pads. |
