The season's over but the boys of summer, in Japan, keep on swinging in this enjoyable baseball simulation. A standard game mode pits one out of twelve professional Japanese teams against another in full motion captured detail. Once you're at bat, players may swing at bad pitches, switch players at will, and adjust batting stances. Similar to strides made in Konami's Winning Eleven series, player facial details and physique types are true to life with rotund players as well as lanky types on the field. A full season may also be played and team rankings are kept up to date to bring on some semblance of pennant race excitement as the season comes to a close. A practice mode gives beginners some much needed batting and pitching training and a team player mode profiles all 480 players in the Japanese professional league. Television announcer Akira Kawamura provides chattering play-by-play on the action as it unfolds.
