| DC Quiz Ah! My Goddess |
Scans |
| In the
frenetic energy of a Japanese arcade, it's easy to miss the little Naomi machine flashing
images of goddesses Belldandy, Skuld, and Urd as it belts out questions covering all areas
of general interest. There's bigger fish to fry in an arcade. In the confines of your home
however, the game takes another life and becomes an an enjoyable diversion, at least for
those who can read Japanese. A six thousand question database awaits the gamer and
provides enough diversity to test your range of knowledge. The limited edition of Quiz
includes a tan colored cushion which measures roughly 13 x 13 and features Belldandy on
it's front ringed by the words "Ah! My Goddess". The bonus GD-Rom features a
Japanese television commerical for the Ah! My Goddess movie that was released last month
and includes a voice actress data file. A stamp set in the likenesses of Belldandy, Urd,
and Skuld are finely detailed and measure about 1 1/2" each. A tray of inks in green,
blue, and red supply the liquid to stamp impresssions to your heart's content. Belldandy
also sits alone on a grey rock in her own little "diorama" which also measures 1
1/2" tall. Finally, a 20 piece sticker set round out the Ah! My Goddess paraphenalia.

J-League Winning Eleven 2000, 2nd Ed |
Scans |
| The latest,
and possibly greatest, soccer game from Konami on the original Playstation makes it's way
to the market. The 2nd edition brims with all of the Japanese League soccer teams,
official logos, insignia and the perfect control that demanding gamers have come to
expect. Those in the know will discover the European teams that are playable to take on
the J-League. Similar to the first Jikkyou 2000, player injuries, fouls, and penalties add
to the realism and tactical considerations that will come into play during a critical
match. Impressive and high standards reinforce the Konami brand as a leader in soccer
simulations. |

Games take place in the future because tomorrow is so
ephemeral. Any wacky scenario or vision is possible and limited only by the imagination.
Nostradamus may have seen ahead but most mere mortals can only visualize an ideal future
and hope for the best. Unison takes this premise and plops us squarely in a dystopian
world where the masses are under oppression. Musical oppression. Dancing is taboo and any
public displays are met with harsh punishment. Amidst the rhythm control by the powers
that be, four dance warriors rise up to challenge the state. The box cover boldly
announces "3 girls and an afro save the world!". Indeed, three teeny bopper
types and a dude with a massive afro make up the rebel force that seek to topple the
empire. Gameplay is simple enough, push and tug the analog sticks on your Dual Shock 2 to
match the (somewhat ephemeral :) cues onscreen. |

| Neo
Geo CD Console... Redux |
Speed |
| Thanks
to everyone for their input. |
| NCS is
mulling an offer. New, unopened (you know the drill) Neo Geo CD consoles are on the table
as SNK of Japan seeks to clear inventory. Apparently, everything must go as the business
transition continues and seeks an end to commence with a new beginning. Through the past
couple of months, and years it seems, stateside vendors have solicited purchase offers for
small quantities of the Neo Geo CD unit but this quantity from SNK is fairly sizable and
substantial. NCS is comfortable with purchasing hundreds of units of older consoles (re:
Saturn and PC-Engine units when they are available) and this Neo-CD supply sits within the
same range in terms of quantity. Pricing is proposed at US$159 per unit for the top
loading, single speed model. Input, feedback, and comments are appreciated. We will
formulate our plan of attack once we can gauge the overall demand (or lack thereof) for
this Neo Geo CD unit. |
Back in the day, CD-Rom drives were manufactured in one flavor. Single speed. You may know
the adage which preaches that oil and water don't mix. Truth be told, Neo Geo and single
speed don't mix either. Long waits are the standard as the single speed drive chugs along,
moving large chunks of mega shock data into the CD console's ram. It ain't pretty but
here's a chance to pick up a Neo-CD console for posterity. |
