The venerable Puyo Puyo Sun has now
made the rounds on every top console in Japan. It first migrated from the arcades to the
Sega Saturn and enjoyed brisk sales on that console. It then appeared on the Nintendo 64 a
few weeks ago. This week, it finally makes it to the Playstation and essentialy closes the
circle of conquering all of the consoles in Japan. Well, it still has to make it on the
NEC PC-FX but we won't hold our breath for that one. Puyo Puyo is addictive puzzle action
at it's best. It contains all the qualities that make a puzzle game fun; ease of gameplay,
simple controls, addictive action, cute characters and of course, chain reactions. The Sun
in the title refers to the new Puyo blob that can cause major havoc on your opponent or on
you if you're not on your toes. Sun Puyo with the right chain reaction will rain Puyo Puyo
death on your hapless opponent. The Playstation version includes two new modes of
gameplay: Tournament Puyo Puyo and Thoroughly Puzzling Puyo. Recommended. |
