| The Final Freak |
Summary |
Like
an old friend, it visits once a month without fail. We hear about recent news, look at
photos together and reminesce about better days. Times are changing and this friend won't
come around anymore.
The final issue of Freak caps five years of Neo Geo coverage and it's
pages have seen the evolution of the Neo Geo in all of it's forms. It was there to herald
the birth of the Neo Pocket to the SNK family and to recount it's death on American and
European shores.
The special fold-out bonus poster features Andy Bogard faintly smiling,
turning as if to leave. He hefts a satchel in his left shoulder and his right hand is
clenched. A road lies behind him. Some friends are gone, but we figure we'll see Andy
again.
NCS is unable to accept new orders for this issue and will only process
pre-orders today. |

Geo Stock Arrives |
More |
| It's about
a week late but 41 SNK cartons arrived this morning containing a variety of Neo Geo
cartridges and Neo Geo CDs. As mentioned last week, we were unable to procure our complete
order due to extenuating circumstances but the majority of the titles that we needed for
pre-orders appear to be in. Please allow two days for NCS to sort everything out and get
the cartridges ready for shipping on Wednesday. About half of the cartridges are the USA
versions, including Sengoku 2, Top Hunter, Samurai Shodown 1, and Samurai Shodown 3. King
of Fighters 99 is the Japanese edition but toggles to English on a USA console. A quantity
of Metal Slug 3 (Japanese, of course) is also available but we were unable to stock Metal
Slug 1. NCS will begin contacting customers on Tuesday to finalize orders for a Wednesday
dispatch. Any remaining cartridges and CDs from this particular shipment will be
posted on-line for general sales under the Neo Geo cartridge and CD sections. Thanks.
|
This particular supply of Neo Geo stock was from SNK of Japan
but some Japanese distributors still keep their own caches of new, unopened inventory. Due
to the great outstanding interest from this offer, we'll negotiate with these partners to
purchase their remaining stock over the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately, many prices
are high due to the global collector's market but we'll give it a go and try to knock down
values and bring them in at a fair price level. |
| Dreamcast Magazine Vol. 42 |

| The
December 29, 2000 issue of Dreamcast Magazine will ship with a special GD-Rom which
includes playable demos of Daytona USA 2001, Never Seven ~the End of Infinity~, Mars
Matrix, and Gunspike. This particular issue will arrive on December 18 at NCS, or roughly
3 days before Daytona USA 2001 arrives. Pre-orders are welcome via e-mail request. |
The upcoming GD-Rom empowered edition of DC Magazine marks the fifth
special Dreamcast Magazine this year. Pricing for each magazine is set at $20. |
| Weekly Import Outlook |
Updates |
The horizon
is dotted with incoming. Due to the new distribution arrangement for Dreamcast stock
instituted by Sega, imports will now arrive on Thursday instead of Wednesday. Everything
expected this week is due in on Thursday which will be a crusher.
ø Dreamcast games on the way
include Moero! Justice Schools, the latest game in the Rival Schools
drama of students battling to save the earth and Charge 'n Blast, a 3-D
run 'n gun shooter.
ø The Nintendo 64 gets another
diverse romp with Mario Party 3 which collects a large variety of mini
games. NCS also expects restock of the much wanted Sin & Punishment this
week.
ø Playstation maintains it's
status quo with Maestro Music Magic Merry Christmas, Super Robot
Wars F (Best), Super Robot Wars F Complete (Best), and the
Eagle Shooting Heroes.
ø Playstation 2 champions it's
own cause by way of Fifa 2001 World Championship, Greatest
Striker, Kuri Kuri Mix, and Side Winder Max.
The game Neo Atlas 2 was originally slated for this week but has been
delayed to December 14.
ø Saturn fans see one last
game in Yukyu Gensokyoku: Perpetual Collection which compiles all of the
Saturn Yukyu games in one deluxe package.
Restock expected this week include the XRGB-2 upscan converter, PS and DC RGB
cables. |
As expected, Tales of Eternia was last week's top seller in both regular
and limited editions. Rockman X5 and Xenogears Elly also
sold very well while other Millenium games did decent numbers.
Quiz Ah! My Goddess sales were limited mostly to fans of the
popular manga but the high price of the game may have also contributed to the cool
reception in the USA market. NCS will keep enough stock to last us for the remainder of
the year.
The next couple of weeks leading up into the winter holiday will be hectic.
The large amount of product in the channel guarantees this. As such, please allow NCS up
to 12-24 hours to respond to general e-mail inquiries as we shift gears and prepare for
season's end. |
