| Time rushes by so quickly nowadays. The beginning of this year
remains fresh in my memory - things were still hectic since many people had amassed
Christmas cash to spend on all of their favorite imports, among other things. Sega's
Saturn was still a contender in the USA that was barely putting up a fight, but it was
still in the running. The N64 plodded along with our company still reeling from the less
than expected Yoshi 64, which we had stocked to the gills. Buyers were simply not coming
in at the high price point. The Playstation got things intense with the release of the
long awaited Bio-Hazard 2 near the end of January 98. That was nearly a year ago. In a
week, NCS starts the chronicles again with a new console in our arsenal and the
Playstation as strong as it will ever be. Demand for Dreamcast software is already
matching our sales numbers for the top Playstation titles. NCS looks forward to the new
year since we know there will be much more to see, to do, to discover. We're in an
interesting business that will never stay set in any one way - the landscape changes every
couple of years when one generation of consoles passes and another is born. We get to
watch each console's birth (and birthing pains), view it's life and then watch as it dies.
There is one exception, we're not holding our breath on the Gameboy since it is immortal.
Titans never die. Along the life line of any new console, we'll have many stories
to share, a lot of news to dispense, many wares to offer and many modifications to do...
1998 has been very kind to NCS and as we move on to 1999, we hope to share our experiences
with our customers and visitors. We wish everyone a safe and festive holiday. May your
bellies be full of eggnog and may you be standing under mistletoe when the apple of your
eye passes by. |

has better Dreamcast defect numbers to report this week. NCS imported 330 Dreamcast
consoles on Monday and Tuesday and found problems in only 2 units. Both units woiuld not
boot anything, including music CDs. There was a customer who had a problem with his GD-Rom
drive which may have been damaged in transit so we have asked him to ship it back to us.
That would make the defect rate 2 units and a third unit that was tested to work but
failed on the way to our customer. We had hoped that all tested DC's would arrive in good
shape but we know that UPS was under heavy pressure this week and perhaps some parcels
were hurled through the air... Sigh. For the record, our total number of DC units sold is
now 600 units with a total of 36 defects thus far. The percentages are getting better. |

will resume normal operations and shipping on Monday. Some of us will actually be working
today since many of the stores that we supply in New York are open. Stock has to be moved
and big Dreamcast cartons have to be dropped off. Demand for Street Fighter Zero 3, Sonic
Adventure, the Mothra VMS, and the Dreamcast is relentless. When even the smallest of
stores that we deal with orders 12-24 Dreamcast consoles each, we can't help but be
somewhat awed by the ready acceptance of the DC, even at high prices. |
