Four new Playstation imports came in on Wednesday. Alnam No
Tsubasa ($65), Blue
Breaker ($58), Prisoner
of Ice ($58) and Zap!
Snowboarding Trix 1998 ($58). We've seen Blue Breaker and Zap! on
the PC-FX and Saturn consoles before but Alnam and
Prisoner of Ice are new to us. Alnam is a 3-D role
playing game that spans 3 discs and features a polygon
based game world. Prisoner of Ice presents gamers with a
dramatic looking 3-D adventure in the style of D and
Alice on Borderlines. A special Gran
Turismo & Dual Shock package ($95) with both items in one petite
box also arrived this past Wednesday. |

Samurai
Shodown IV Amakusa Kourin is in stock for the Playstation. The PS
version features a bonus where you can play Cham Cham.
Our company was not looking forward to this game since
Samurai Shodown III from last year was less than
impressive. Surprisingly, SNK seem to have a better grasp
of the Playstation hardware and this latest conversion is
admirable. The control is easy to grasp and the screen
scrolls are executed smoothly. While not a perfect
conversion, it plays well enough to warrant a favorable
rating. NCS has both Japanese and Asian stock of this
game. Playstation Samurai Shodown IV $58

The Playstation version of Soukyugurentai came in on Monday. This version
features something that the arcade doesn't: Dual Shock
compatibility where your joypad will rumble in two
flavors with the on-screen explosions and wind
turbulence. Soukyugurentai has been one of our top
sellers for the Saturn in the past year. The perfect
blend of fine gameplay, mega power-ups and dazzling
screen effects all conspire to bring home a moving
experience. The Playstation version is fast and holds
true to the Saturn version (which by the way is a near
1:1 arcade port). Playstation Soukyugurentai $58

Shin
Nihon Pro-Wrestling "Brave Spirits" ($60) is now sold out but we are
expecting another large shipment next Monday. Learn a few
moves and you'll soon be tossing your opponent out of the
ring by flinging him head-on through the ropes. Shin
Nihon features all of your favorite Japanese wrestlers
with their trademark moves and roars of battle. Along
with this week's N64 shipment, we have restock on Aero-Gauge ($60) and Yoshi's Story ($75). |

In today's journal we post up a listing of magazine bundles
that are available for sale. We stock too many magazines
and as a result, they rise from the ground like
megalithic towers in storage. Help us take down those
towers. Also in the journal, we preview two Playstation
titles that should ship near the end of the month. Choro
Q3 continues the wacky racing fun found in the previous
two volumes and R-Type Collection brings back a beloved
shooter with the original arcade code intact. |

Seven new
magazines are
available this week. Two special items: An Escaflowne
fan book with
color artwork and the latest Gamest Mook. Volume 105 features the adorable, scrappy,
and somewhat scruffy miniature fighters from Capcom's
Pocket Fighter. The latest Saturn Fan magazine came in
yesterday (No. 1, 1998) and shipped out to our
subscribers yesterday. Single issue purchases may also be
phoned or faxed in. As the year comes to a close, we will
be posting up magazine packages in one of this week's
journals . We have literally tons of magazines from this
past year (and past years) that have not been sold and
are accumulating at a rapid pace in storage. We have not
been aggressive in selling them so we'll post up a couple
of offers for the magazines this week. It's usually
interesting to read up on how the Saturn or N64 was doing
in 1996, sort of like a video history lesson...or
something like that. |
