Original Posting about PS Stock
We are engaged with an issue right now concerning new Playstation stock. The past few releases such as Final Fantasy VII, Choro Q2 and Macross Digital Mission VF-X have seen a mixture of Japanese stock as well as Asian stock. Asian stock is what Sony ships to markets in the Pacific Rim outside of Japan which cover but are not limited to territories such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and Malaysia. Our question to our customers is, would you prefer to have the Japanese version of the game packaging with its full color manuals and all Japanese instruction booklets or would the Asian version with its English manuals be preferable? Asian versions have color covers but black & white photos inside the instruction manual to depict the various levels of the game. Both types of stock cost the same for our company so we have no vested interest in sourcing one or the other. This is why we are asking our customers their opinion. I suppose it will be a mixed consensus, depending on the particular tastes of you, the consumer. We can however source and demand one or both types of games. Please feel free to voice your opinions, testimonials, and feelings to us at ncs@escape.com so we know what your thoughts on this matter are. If you are not concerned at all with this issue, we'd like to hear about it also. Thanks, your opinions do matter to NCS and we will provide the type of stock that is desired in the U.S. marketplace.
  The Follow Up & Conclusion
Thanks to everyone who responded to our query concerning their preference for Japanese or Asian Playstation stock. As expected, its a mixed consensus with roughly 60% of the respondents in favor of Japanese stock and 40% in favor of Asian stock. The reasons were varied but respondents who preferred the Japanese versions overwhelmingly said that the manuals were a big plus thanks to the inclusion of color photos inside. Those who preferred the Asian versions cited the English translations which helped them get into the game quickly and basically get a feel for the game's background. The people have spoken. As of next week, with the release of Bushido Blade, NCS will source both Japanese and Asian stock for our customers. Not all games will have a simultaneous Asian version but we will make it available if it is released to the market. Playstation software that is available for both territories will be designated under the heading Origin as JPN/ASN. If it is only available in a Japanese version, the Origin would then be simply Japan. Due to the changes, please make sure that you specify the territory origin of a Playstation title when placing an order with NCS. Feel free to express your own views on the matter by e-mailing us.
