During the winter months, the release of
mahjong games on the Saturn slow to a standstill. Hyper activity
will resume with the beginning of spring but Natsume has broken
the ice with Pyon Pyon No Caruru Mahjong Biyori. The star of Pyon
Pyon is a sprite-like munchkin with red hair and a league of
rabbits at her side. The rest of the cast is rounded out by six
similarly sprite-like girls who you play mahjong against. Unlike
the majority of MJ games on the Saturn, there is no stripping of
clothes when you win and there is no adult rating on the disc.
You do have the satisfaction of watching the sprites get angry
and vow revenge on you when you beat them but thats the extent of
the 'purse' when you manage to beat your opponent. The logic
algorithm is of standard rank and most decent mahjong players
will be able to beat the sprites after a couple of rounds by
observing the way that they play. The table rules are also
standard with the usual hand and winning combinations enforced by
the program. The scarcity of mahjong games at this time should
help to fuel sales of this game though the lack of a lewdness
rating make scare some away.
