Konami's Speed King was originally an arcade game with a cockpit that rocked and rolled as you raced through the streets of Neo Kobe City. Fans of Snatcher may recognize Kobe City as the backdrop of that classic futuristic thriller. The racing vehicle that you control is somewhat of a hovercraft that is controlled by adjusting air flaps on the body of the machine. The lack of wheels (and the accompanying friction) make your space age vehicle an extremely maneuverable craft that is somewhat difficult to control at times because of its high velocity and its capability to arc with the sharpest of turns. Practicing the cornering and adjusting the speed of your vehicle as you race will be essential skills to master in order to race effectively. Speed King is the natural choice for fans of Gran Chaser that are looking for a follow-up to that older Saturn racing game.
