SNK's Stakes Winner is an arcade game where you control a jockey and his accompanying horse
through a track. Its a lot more fun than it sounds and this is one of the
more playable horse racing games on consoles. Most of the other horse racing
games that are available concentrate only on the strategy side of running a
successful stable. This would be where you raise your horses, put them out
to race and breed them. Stakes Winner allows you to do all that and
take part in the actual races as well. The Saturn conversion is a
very good port of the Neo-CD game but you might notice that the sound is
not as vibrant as the Neo-CD version and the graphics while on par do not
animate as smoothly.
