Sony Playstation Virtual Pro Wrestling
Shades of Toukon Retsuden...VPW looks very much like that Tomy wrestling game from last year which set the gaming world on fire, um, well, maybe just our little part of the gaming world. VPW's wrestlers are detailed excrutiatingly well and animate smoothly. Many of the wrestlers have their trademark costumes and colors on which keeps them distinct in a field of many different wrestlers. The wrestlers have such an array of different moves between the lot of them that it is almost hopeless to learn them all but but thats the beauty of this game and Toukon, they both have lasting power. You will be able to execute high kicks, running kicks, pile drivers, punches, leg locks, choke holds, ring dives, etc, etc in this exercise in human mayhem. I try to be a gentleman but wrestling games still hold an attraction because of their realism. I mean, in the real world we have wrestling where the brawlers know how to put on a show, a broadway show...and boxing where opponents take dives after 1:18 minutes into the third round and it has all become rather tiring. At least with video wrestling, there is no acting and no swan dives...even if the whole medium of video games is artificial to begin with. Funny how video has become more realistic than real life.
