Sony Playstation Victory Zone 2

Victory Zone 2 comes in a really big box. I mean, a really big box. Sankyo could have fit 10 CDs into this box but the inside only contains the main disc and a replica of a pachinko dial which plugs into the second port of your Playstation. The pachinko dial is made of plastic and acts like an actual dial which you turn to aim your matching dial on the screen and you press it to launch the balls into the pachinko playfield. Its very novel for the company to include such an accessory and adds to the pachinko enjoyment. Victory Zone is a pachinko simulation where you shoot a volley of tiny white balls into the pachinko playfield and then watch as they tumble down towards the different wheels, spinners and bonus pots that are littered throughout the playfield. Think of it as a parlor game where people can whittle away the time in a rather serene and addictive game. The popularity of pachinko is a mix of the skill involved in playing, the chance of winning some money and the social interaction that you get in the parlor though it is mainly a solitary game. If this whole rap sounds similar to last week's pachinko description for the game from Daiishi then you should understand that there is not much different between pachinko, just the playfields that are featured in the game, some of which are modeled from the more popular designs found in the parlors in Japan. There are seven total playfields to choose from on VZone2. I will describe some of the more clever designs that I tried. One pachinko board is designed with a Jumping Flash theme in mind with a couple of Jumping Flash rabbits drawn on the field who are parachuting down to the bottom of the field and a few wheels and dials that spin as your balls tumble down the field. A semi-circular obstruction near the top of the field gathers your balls up if they should fall into the semi-circle and re-routes them to the pegs and other obstructions below. Another table is called Fever Attack which has a jackpot machine in the top-middle of the field which spins if a ball goes into a little slot on the top of the slot machine. If you hit a winning combination, you will get credits added to your bank roll in the machine. Two other boards in Victory Zone features characters from Sony video games. There is a board with the characters from Motor Toon GP and another that features Arc the Lad. I enjoy pachinko and I found Victory Zone 2 to be a competent entry in the pachinko game field.
